Geography & History
Geography and History are taught as both discrete subjects, or are combined with other areas of the curriculum following our creative topic curriculum to enhance learning. In doing this we feel that the children benefit from the teachers' experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for both subjects.
Geography and History topics are taught to excite, engage and bring the subjects to life. They are taught to be both purposeful and meaningful, equipping the children with skills they will put into practice throughout their lives.
In geography children develop their understanding of the world around them and their local area throughout KS1, developing their knowledge of physical and human geography. In KS2 this is further developed across a broader spectrum, looking at developing geographical language, changes in land use and the effects we have on the environment. The child comes away from school with a developed understanding of the world around them, and how they can begin to change it for the better.
