In Gruffalo Class we always wear a smile whilst giving 100% in everything we do. We are great friends and endeavour to look after each other. Learning to work as a team plays a huge part in our daily activities and teaches us about turn taking, listening to others and learning that not everyone thinks the same way. Alongside this we also like to show off how we are all individuals and that we are all talented in different ways. Another thing that makes our class special is that we are always up for a challenge and never give up when we find something tricky.
This term we will be thinking about what makes Edgworth special and learning all about our local area. We will be also be looking at plants, animals and their habitats in science. To support our learning in this topic, we will be going on a trip to the Zoo.
We will be linking our science learning to our English lessons and will be learning how to write instructions for growing plants (and growing them!). How exciting!
In maths we will be developing our understanding of place value and addition and subtraction further. We will be exploring mathematical concepts using concrete and pictorial resources. We will also have lots of opportunities to develop our problem solving and reasoning skills and we will be continuing to develop our fluency when counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
We will be focusing on comprehension skills during class guided reading sessions especially developing inference skills but home reading books will still be sent home regularly.
Spellings will be sent home on Mondays and children will be tested the following Monday.
Our class assembly this term will be on Thursday 16th May. We look forward to seeing you there!
