Our children learn about music and experience music in many areas of school life. Music classroom lessons are taught through music skills which can be downloaded from the resource list on the left. The children learn about performing music, listening to music and gaining knowledge and understanding of music.

Hymns are sung during worship and Mrs Sears leads hymn practice every Wednesday afternoon. A wide range of music is played while the children enter and leave worship. Songs are also learnt for plays that are performed throughout the year (Infants -Autumn term, Lower Juniors - Spring term and Upper Juniors - Summer term). Most classes have tidying up music in their classrooms and getting ready for PE music.

All our children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are given the opportunity to learn to play the classical guitar, flute, clarinet or brass instrument from a professional tutor from Bolton Music Service. Mr. Higginson teaches guitar, Mrs. Kay teaches woodwind and Mr. Hobson, teaches brass. If you would like more information about music lessons please ask the school office.

Bolton Music Service, in association with Blackburn with Darwen Local Authority provide Wider Opportunities for all year 4 children in the borough. The children are given weekly music lessons with teachers from the music service. The children will be introduced to a different instrument each term. Over the last few years they have played brass instruments, drums, the ukulele and enjoyed singing.
