Welcome to Peter Rabbit’s class page!
My name is Mrs Carr and I am the Reception class teacher. On Thursday mornings, Reception children have PE. Please send children into school wearing their PE kit and trainers on Thursdays. PE pumps will be kept in school in named pump bags for children to wear during indoor PE sessions and trainers are for outdoor PE sessions. Please send named pumps in pumped bags at the start of the year.
Mrs Sears teaches in Reception on Wednesday mornings. Mrs Evans and Miss McGuinness are our class teaching assistansts.
In Reception children have daily phonics and maths lessons. Children in Early Years learn best through play. Peter Rabbit class have lots of opportunities to develop their learning through our areas of continuous provision both inside the classroom and in our outdoor area. Throughout the day, there are a mixture of adult led guided activities and child led activities to enhance learning.
In Reception. learning is centred around the following seven areas of learning: Communication and Language (C&L), Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Physical Development (PD), Literacy (L), Mathematics (M), Understanding the World (UW) and Expressive Arts and Design (EAD).
During their time in Peter Rabbit class, children will learn about topics such as: All about me, seasons, people who help us, animals, space, life-cycles and the continents of the world.
Homework
Homework in Reception is mainly focused on reading. Additional Little Wandle phonics practice activities are sent home on a Friday to consolidate the week's learning in class. Photos of activities completed at home or photos of exciting news and experiences can emailed into school for show and tell.
Please send reading folders to school every day and read as much as possible at home. Reading books will be collected in on Mondays and will stay in school until Wednesdays when new reading books will come home.
Show and Tell
The children are given a house group to belong to, they will stay in this house throughout their time at school. Siblings are put in the same house group.In Reception, each house group has their own show and tell day. This is an opportunity for the children to stand at the front of the class and share their news/ photos/ special objects from home. The show and tell days are:
Monday: Owls
Tuesday: Herons
Wednesday: Blackbirds
Thursday: Robins
Friday: Kingfishers
Photos of learning and events taking place in school will be regularly shared on Facebook. Please follow our school's Facebook page to see the exciting things that take place.
Milk and Fruit
All infant children are offered a piece of fruit during the day. Alternatively, you can send one healthy snack into school for your child. This snack must be gluen free due to a severe allergy within the class. We encourage healthy eating and therefore unhealthy snacks such as biscuits, chocolate or crisps are not allowed. Families also have the option to purchase milk for your child. Milk is pre-ordered via an app. Gluten free toast can also be purchased on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 30p per slice. Coins can be sent in on the day in a named purse or envelope if you would like your child to purchase this.
Water Bottles
Please can your child bring a water bottle to school every day, with their name clearly visible. These will be taken home for cleaning and refilling each day. They can also be refilled at school during the day.
Library
The children can visit the infant library every Friday to choose a book to bring home to share. They need to bring the book back the following week, so it can be swapped for a new book.
PE
Our PE day is every Thursday. Please send your child to school in their full PE kit on this day.
