Safeguarding (parents/carers)

Safeguarding has the highest priority at Turton Edgworth CEM Primary School.

Safeguarding begins before adults even come and work in our school as we follow all "Safer Recruitment" processes and all staff are required to have an 'Enhanced Disclosure' DBS certificate. This means we follow rules about how we decide who works in our school and we can check with the Police to make sure they are safe to work with children.

All staff and governors have regular safeguarding training (at least annually) and we have a named Safeguarding Link Governor.

BwD badge.png Direct reporting

If you belive that a child may be the victim of abuse or neglect, you can confidentially contact Blackburn with Darwen's Children's Advice and Duty Service (CADS) directly on 01254 666400 (M-F 8:45am - 5:00pm). If you believe a child may be at immediate risk of harm, you should phone the Police on 999.

You can also share any concerns you may have with any member of staff at school or arrange a meeting with the DSL.

Children can report any concerns or worries they have through this website by clicking on the "Online Worry Portal" that allows them to report directly to the DSL.

Safeguarding-Prevent-graphic.png Prevent Duty

The Prevent Duty trains staff to be aware of the signs of potential radicalisation or extremist behaviour in children and families. Staff are trained regularly (at least annually) in Prevent and will report any concerns to the DSL.

operation encompass.jpg Operation Encompass

We take part in Operation encompass at Turton Edgworth. Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple email, telephone call or notification to a school's trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties.

FortiAnalyzer-License.jpg Online safety & web filtering

We use a web filtering software called "Fort Analyzer" that is provided by Blackburn with Darwen LA. The DSL receives a weekly report highlighting any suspicious searches or web addresses and who was logged onto the machine at that time.

The UK Safer Internet Centre are a partnership of three leading organisations: Childnet International, Internet Watch Foundation and SWGfL, with one mission – to promote the safe and responsible use of technology for young people. Forti Analyzer uses their checklist to ensure the service they provide for us is of the highest standard.
